She’s a proud graduate of Fayette County Public Schools and Eastern Kentucky University. In addition to being a successful small business owner, Raquel is a respected leader in the community, and a dedicated public servant - formerly serving as Chair of the Lexington Board of Adjustment and currently serving as a member of the Kentucky Real Estate Commission, having been appointed to that position by Governor Andy Beshear.&nbsp;She lives in Lexington with her husband, a fellow entrepreneur and local business leader, where they are the very proud parents of two children.

As a local business owner, I have firsthand experience in job creation and career building.&nbsp; I also have encountered the challenges of doing business in our city.&nbsp; Lexington deserves leadership that is a champion of business.&nbsp; If we want better paying jobs we have to create job opportunities within our existing industries, recruit new businesses, and make it easier to do business with and in Lexington. <h4>As Mayor I will… </h4><ul><li>Enlist our local business community as a partner, not an adversary.</li><li>Reduce red tape and redundant processes that deter new business.</li><li>Launch a coordinated campaign to bring more jobs downtown.</li><li>Include business and employment opportunities in all community development plans.</li></ul>

Lexingtonians deserve homes they can afford.&nbsp; As a real estate professional, I saw first hand the dream of home ownership become out of reach for many first time home buyers because of the lack of starter homes and skyrocketing home prices.&nbsp; As a business owner, I understand the challenge of hiring and the reduced quality of life when employees are forced to move outside of Lexington just to find a safe, affordable place to call home.&nbsp; As an active community member, I see the daily impact of lack of affordable housing has on our community with the increasing number of families and children experiencing homelessness. And as a mother, I want my college-aged son and my middle school daughter to have a chance of building a life here in Lexington – the place we call home.
